MARSHELLE HOOD

MA-LPC

Marshelle Hood is now working at Hope Peace Joy Counseling in Plainfield, IL.  She is a National Certified (NCC) and Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with an emphasis in Marriage and Family Therapy.

Prior to continuing her education in marriage and family counseling in 2015, her career included 16 years in the fields of recruitment and financial negotiations.  She has expertise in the areas of client relationship management, team leadership, and operations training.

Marshelle earned a Masters of Counseling in Marriage and Family Therapy from Governors State University and a BA in Psychology from Chicago State University. She completed her Masters’ of counseling program after a year-long internship as a counselor at Guardian Angel Services in Joliet, IL.  During this time, Marshelle used a family systems approach to work with groups, couples and individuals discover their strengths, build support systems, and develop healthy lifestyles.

Marshelle completed the Gottman method level I training in couples counseling.  She is concerned with the impact of loss and trauma and has experience supporting trauma recovery for better emotional, physical and relationship health.  Her focus and commitment is to journey alongside each person during their counseling experience.
